What will I study?

During this one-year course, you will develop your artistic skills and begin to build a portfolio of your work. You will gain confidence with your art and learn the necessary skills so you can pursue a career in Art and Design or Games Art once you have finished studying.

The nature of this course is to provide you with opportunities to develop skills in drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, glasswork, digital art, and photography. This will allow you to consider one of these areas to specialise in at Level 3.

What previous qualifications or experience do I need?

Minimum four grade 3-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 1 course, and English or maths at grade 3. A portfolio of work will be required.

How will I be assessed?

Your assessments will be 100% coursework based, which may include working on live projects.

What qualification will I achieve?

Once you have completed this course, you will achieve a Level 2 in Art and Design, awarded by UAL.

What can I do after completing this course?

Once you have completed this course, you will be able to progress onto our Level 3 Art and Design or Creative Media courses.

There are a number of career opportunities for you to think about after your studies. You could work towards a career as a graphic designer, web designer, photographer, illustrator, jewellery designer, animator, film director, set designer or fine artist.

Are there any extra costs?

You may be required to purchase your own materials such as sketchbooks, pens, paints, brushes, and memory sticks. You may also have the opportunity to attend a number of trips and visits, which may incur additional costs.
