If you are interested in working with people and meeting their needs then health and social care may be the subject for you. You will need to be motivated, enthusiastic, self-disciplined and reliable. This course has been designed to allow learners to develop an understanding of the diverse and complex nature of the health and social care sector. As part of this course you will carry out independent research and investigate many of the issues affecting older people, children, health, and individuals with specific needs. You will be expected to undertake two separate periods of volunteering to enhance your understanding and give you opportunities to achieve higher grades.

The Level 3 Applied Certificate/Diploma in Health and Social Care is assessed through a combination of one written examinations, set and marked by WJEC, and one centre-marked assignment per year.

This course can provide a pathway to a wide range of Higher Education courses. This course also offers a route into many professions such as occupational therapy; nursing; teaching; working with vulnerable adults; working with children with additional needs; and working with older people in residential care.
There may be some costs for external trips and visits to enrich student experiences.
Students are encouraged to undertake voluntary work within both years. This will improve understanding and give an enhanced opportunity to gain higher grades.
