This qualification is a BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Engineering. It follows the Engineering BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma.

The course is a 2 year course studied by traditional day release and is ideal for those in employment who have the support of their employers at attend on one day per week.

On this course you will continue to develop your knowledge of a specific range of engineering subjects and you will complete a major project including both practical and theoretical aspects. Mandatory units include:- • Analytical methods for Engineers • Engineering Science • Project design, implementation and evaluation

Additional common units include:- • Programmable logic controllers • Mechatronics systems

Specialised units for Electrical/Electronic engineering will include:- • Instrumentation and control principles • Computer programming techniques • Digital and analogue devices and circuits

Specialised units for Mechanical engineering will include:- • Mechanical principles • Fluid mechanics • Advanced computer-aided design techniques

Successful completion of current course and achievement of level 4 (C) in GCSE English.,Successful completion of current course.

How will I be assessed?

You will complete assignments related to each unit of the qualification as well as a substantial project. You can achieve grades of Pass, Merit and Distinction.

Higher National Certificate (L4) in Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering

What can I do after completing this course?

HND (L5) in Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering or to employment in jobs which lead to further high-skill work-based training such as higher apprenticeships.
