What will I study?

Over the duration of the courses you will study mandatory units and optional units.

You will study topics such as Child and young person development, Communication and Professional Relationships with Children, Young People and Adults, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Work with Children and Young People, Safeguarding The Welfare of Children and Young People and Support Learning Activities

What previous qualifications or experience do I need?

Minimum four grade 3-9/D-A* at GCSE including English and maths, or successful completion of the Level 1 qualification. A clear DBS check will also be required.

How will I be assessed?

Your assessments for this course will take place in the school and consist of portfolio based assignments.

What qualification will I achieve?

Supporting Teaching and Learning in schools Level 2.

What can I do after completing this course?

Once you have completed the course you may decide to progress onto to a higher level of study, starting the Level 3 qualification in Specialist support in teaching and Learning in schools or perhaps train to become an Early Years Practitioner.

You may also start your career in the industry in a teaching support position, with the opportunity to specialise as an individual needs assistant.

Are there any extra costs?

Students on this course will be obliged to purchase text books and a uniform for work placement .

During the course there will also be an additional cost for educational visits.
