To progress on this course, and to go further in training or at work, it’s essential to have good Maths and English alongside vocational expertise. This is particularly true in this technical subject where employment opportunities begin at level 3 (i.e. equivalent to A level study) We encourage all applicants to work to achieve GCSE English and maths before leaving school, if at all possible. However, if you have not achieved a GCSE in maths and/or English (grades A*-C) at the start of this course you will be required to continue to study the subject in order to support your progress to employment. The College runs apprenticeships in conjunction with JTL, the major national provider of work-based assessment in the sector. Whilst they cannot guarantee employment they do provide a matching service between prospective apprentices and possible employers. You will need to pass the JTL selection test in order to take up an apprenticeship. Applicants for this full time course, where applicable, will also be put in contact with JTL following interview.
