This course is designed for students that have completed hairdressing and barbering qualifications at Level 2 and above and wish to specialise in barbering. The course teaches fundamental clipper cuts, short fades, beard grooming, facial massage, hot towels and basic styling. You will then advance onto creative scissor cuts, cutthroat shaving and razor outlining, and advanced styling based on trends and themes. This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a senior barber or senior men's hair stylist / hairdresser.
You will practise cutting techniques with scissors and clippers, learn how to carry out an effective client consultation, you will blow-dry and apply finishing products, cut and sculpt facial hair, and learn about health and safety in the salon environment. Once you have completed this course you will be ready to start working in a salon.
Successful completion of the Level 2 course, and English and maths GCSE at grade 4.
You will build up a portfolio of evidence that showcases your skills and knowledge some of which will be assessed against occupational competency
Practical assessments will take place throughout the year, when you are ready to do so.
Written unit papers are set to assess you underpinning knowledge of the subjects studied.
VTCT NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Barbering

Independent / self employed / mobile / home-based settings

television, film, theatre and media
There will a requirement for you to purchase a kit so you can develop your skills outside of the training studios.
You will be expected to seek work experience in a barbers setting, one day a week to support your course and personal development of skills, your tutor will support you to secure a placement.
The evolve barber salons offer client services to members of the public, you will be providing barbering services which is a requirement for this qualification.
