What will I study?

This one-year programme will increase your skill-set and train you in the prevention and management of sports injuries. You will learn a range of sports therapy and physiotherapist techniques that will allow you to work within sports clubs, hotels or progress onto a higher level of study. You will learn sports massage techniques in our therapy suite, and expand your knowledge in anatomy and physiology so that you can identify troubled areas on clients and give them the correct treatment. You will also be able to tape and strap minor sporting injuries and learn techniques in rehabilitation.

You will study a range of topics including:

  • Sports massage
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Taping and strapping
  • Nutrition
  • Sports injuries and rehabilitation

What previous qualifications or experience do I need?

Minimum five grade 4-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 2 course, and English or maths at grade 4.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through instruction and ongoing assessment, both practical and theory, directed assignments, research and supported individual study. There will also be a multiple choice exam paper to sit.

What qualification will I achieve?

Once you have completed this course you will awarded a Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy

What can I do after completing this course?

On completion of the course you can progress on to a Level 4 qualification (e.g. Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy) or employment in the industry.

You may consider career opportunities including working as a Sport Therapist, Sports Massage Therapist, Sport and Exercise Rehabilitation, Sport Scientist, or a Personal Training/Exercise Instruction.
