What will I study?

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills related to the vehicle maintenance repair industry. You will be taught by industry professionals who will combine workshop-based training with the necessary theory needed for modern vehicle body repair. Workshop practice will provide opportunities to develop your expertise and understanding of vehicle maintenance repair techniques. You will improve your understanding of vehicle servicing requirements, technical requirements and practices required when carrying out servicing to industry standards. Some of the areas covered include braking systems, engine servicing, suspension operation and checks for condition and operation. At Level 2, there are some theory lessons that enable you to develop your knowledge and understanding of the technical areas of your work. If you have not yet achieved at least a GCSE Grade D / 3 in maths and / or English these subjects will form a compulsory part of your study programme.

What previous qualifications or experience do I need?

Minimum four grade 3-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 1 course, and English and/or maths at grade 3.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through a series of practical assessments and written tasks.

What qualification will I achieve?

City & Guilds Vehicle Maintenance Repair Level 2 Certificate.

What can I do after completing this course?

This course will provide a pathway into an apprenticeship (employer dependant). You will need to have achieved good grades in the theoretical elements and the practical skill requirements at Level 2 to make sure you are ready for employment opportunities.

Are there any extra costs?

Course contribution fees are currently £180. This covers essential small tools, PPE kits, books and individual access to online material and project materials. Full details will be confirmed at interview. You will also need to provide steel toe capped boots and blue overalls.
