Study on our

Foundation Learning Courses

Foundation learning offers courses for students who need more individual support to achieve an Entry and Foundation Level qualification. The courses allow students to build on essential skills and general education and get experience in vocational areas.

These courses are great as a preparation for students who are not yet ready to commit to a full vocational course or to go into employment. Students who feel they have not got the grades they needed at school will be able to take further development in English, Number and Information Technology with different forms and qualifications.

All courses under Level 2 (GCSE Level) are now part of the Foundation Learning Tier (FLT).

Foundation Level Tier courses allow learners to build a personalised learning package, using both their own goals and tutors’ assessment of their skills profile. This will include a vocational qualification, either focused on a particular area or a taster of several different areas.

This is supported by functional skills in Maths, English and ICT and Personal and Social Development qualifications. Students will get a full support service which will help them to assess their skills, regularly review their progress, and work towards goals they can achieve.
