Our Station Plaza campus is an impressive five storey building crammed with unique facilities and classroom spaces.

It is home to our A-Level courses and a whole range of vocational diplomas including Art and Design, Beauty, Business, Hair, Health and Social Care, Hospitality and Catering, Public Services, Sport, and Travel.

This campus is built in the middle of Hastings, right next to a train and bus station - so getting to college could not be easier!

On the first floor...

Hair and Beauty

On the first floor you’ll find our Plaza Hair and Beauty salons where our hairdressing, beauty therapy, and make-up artistry students perfect their techniques. They are able to benefit from working in a commercial salon that attracts paying customers. The hair salon is endorsed by Wella and is fitted with styling chairs, washing basins, professional mirrors, and all the products you need to cut and colour hair. Next door is our beauty salon. Clients are able to relax and be pampered in the sauna, steam room, and Jacuzzi. The salon is also fitted with beauty beds, nail stations, and a laser light treatment room.

Hospitality and Catering

Also on the first floor you will find our training kitchens and Coast Restaurant. Our catering students are able to learn the art of cooking in our modern and fully-equipped kitchens. They have full use of hi-tech commercial rational ovens, our vacuum packers, and sous vide water baths – the types of equipment you would expect to find in all professional kitchens. In Coast Restaurant, our hospitality students are able to learn barista skills and master silver service dinner etiquette while serving paying customers. Our Coast restaurant also has a 5 star rating on TripAdvisor!

College Gym

On the opposite side of the first floor is our gym. The Plaza Fitness gym is fitted with all the latest fitness equipment including running machines, cross trainers, and weights. Our Sports and Public Services students often have practical lessons in the gym to work on improving their fitness or to design fitness programmes. The gym is also open seven days a week and offers discounted membership to East Sussex College students.

The second floor...

Supported Learning

The second floor is home to our Supported Learning department. We have a dedicated space for learning both academically and practically as students are able to gain skills for everyday life. Our facilities include a safe haven, chill out zone, low arousal environment, and a sensory room.

Health and Social Care

Our Health and Social Care classrooms are also based on the second floor. Students are able to learn how to operate equipment that is used in the industry, such as electric and manual hoists, as well as learn how to use technology to measure and record statistics and information such as a person’s height, weight, BMI and blood pressure.

Library

Our large Library is also situated on the second floor. The Library plays an important part in helping our students to achieve the best grades they can as it is filled with useful textbooks, journals, and newspapers to help them research and reference their coursework. We have a bank of computers dedicated to independent study, and our friendly Library team are always on hand to help with proofreading and printing.

On the third floor...

A-Levels

The third floor has lots of large, well-resourced, classrooms. Our A-Level subjects are based here and each room is fitted with an interactive Promethean white board. Our Physics, Chemistry, and Biology labs are also on this floor and are well stocked with equipment and resources, perfect for conducting experiments.

Travel and Tourism

The third floor is also home to our very own Boeing 747. Our fuselage is a replica of the inside of a commercial aircraft so that our Cabin Crew and Travel and Tourism students can practise their flight procedures, preparing them for jobs in the industry.

The fourth floor...

Art and Design

The fourth floor is dedicated to Art and the creative industries. Our Art students have free reign of our studios which boast equipment such as pottery wheels, a kiln, large traditional printing presses, metal work studios, textile studios, photography studio and dark room, as well as industry standard software packages, such as Adobe, for photo editing, animating, and video production.

On the fifth floor...

University Centre Hastings

The fifth floor is home to our University Centre Hastings. We have a dedicated space for our degree level courses, including classroom space for our BSc (Hons) in Business, HNC and HND in Health and Social Care, and our PGCE and Teacher Training courses. We also have dedicated space for our six BA (Hons) courses in the Arts, which boast a photography studio, digital and traditional animation suite, and studio space for crafts, illustration, painting, and graphic design.

Around the rest of the campus…

The real talking point of the campus though, is the huge light-filled atrium. Classrooms surround a huge central area that is perfect for student to exhibit their artwork, enjoy awards evenings, host Remembrance Parades, and perform in end of year shows.
