East Sussex College is supporting the boycott of social media this weekend (from 3pm Friday- 00:00 Tuesday), joining Football clubs and businesses across the UK.
ESC is proud to support the ongoing fight against online hate, discrimination, and abuse. The college has a people-first ethos and celebrates the positive impact each person has on the college environment. The silence will be used to educate young people about the effects toxic behaviour has, and ultimately, that these actions are unacceptable.
Elsewhere, locally, our partner and Premier League side, Brighton & Hove Albion FC pledged their support to call on social media companies to do more to stop abuse online. The boycott also has the support of F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton, although F1 themselves will be on social media this race weekend.
