College Supports East Sussex Women In Business Awards 2017

Sussex Downs College alumna and lifestyle blogger Mollie Quirk looks ahead to the East Sussex Women in Business Awards 2017

The nominations are in and judging is underway for this year’s East Sussex Women in Business Awards. Sussex Downs College is incredibly excited to be sponsoring the ‘Women in Business’ category at the brilliant awards from JP Events South. It’s been a great opportunity to celebrate and recognises hard-working women who have outstanding drive, determination and dedication for doing what they love.

Sussex Downs College is always supporting and encouraging young, successful students to move on to great opportunities. So, as the judges hold the shortlist and East Sussex waits until September with bated breath, I take a look at some other inspiring women in education:

A successful vocational alumna, Kaiya Swain, is heading to Abu Dhabi in October to represent the UK in the WorldSkills finals. Kaiya is a former Beauty Therapy student who was entered into the competition during her time at College. Sussex Downs College has followed Kaiya’s two-year WorldSkills journey through regional heats, a national final, the European finals and a team selection showdown. Kaiya also runs her own beauty business and mentors current SDC students entered into WorldSkills Competition.

Nicole Marshall is another former female student who has gone on to achieve brilliant things since graduating from Sussex Downs College. Nicole penned the number one hit single ‘Rather Be’ alongside Clean Bandit. This won her an Ivor Novello and Grammy Award.

Countless College alumna have gone on to achieve great things. From the world of Accounting to Fashion Design and Engineering. By sponsoring the Women in Business category at the East Sussex Women in Business Awards 2017, we hope to inspire our current, future and former students to work toward their goals.

The East Sussex Women in Business Awards 2017 takes place 15th September at The Cavendish Hotel, Eastbourne. Tickets are available to purchase via: www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/east-sussex-women-in-business-awards-m1ex080812-m1la1704-tickets-34617337388

Good luck to all the nominees on the evening. You really are an inspiration!
