Since the initiation of the Eastbourne ALIVE programme in the summer of 2023, students from ESC's Art & Design and Media departments in have collaboratively engaged with Eastbourne ALIVE to ensure their voices are prominently represented.
Last November, students led an impactful intervention at The Towner art gallery in Eastbourne, sharing their Eastbourne Manifesto. As a result, they received an invitation to engage in a chat at Eastbourne Town Hall with Councillor Jenny Williams and Council Leader Stephen Holt. The discussion focused on Youth Voice in Eastbourne, and included the students' innovative ideas and visions for the town.
This Monday [15th January], students took part in the meeting which fostered an insightful and dynamic discussion. Councillor Williams and Council Leader Holt are now working on a proposal based on the students' input. This proposal will be presented to the full council soon.
Following the event, Eastbourne Alive took to social media and said, “The students were incredibly articulate, passionate and engaged, with lots to say to improve the town’s accessibility, inclusivity, safety, creativity, wellbeing and economy.”
