Kiki May, a talented Performing Arts Acting student at East Sussex College’s Lewes campus, has been on an exciting journey that’s shaped her passion for theatre and acting.

Her experiences have not only enriched her skills but also set her on a clear path to pursuing her dreams in the performing arts industry. One of the standout moments in Kiki’s career so far was working on the hit TV show Ted Lasso.

She described the experience as “inspiring for me as a young actor. The cast and crew were so welcoming and generous, making me feel at home straight away. This comfortability I found on the Ted Lasso set helped me create a strong work ethic that I now carry forward into my work both professionally and at college.”

It’s clear that the positive environment on set left a lasting impact on her approach to acting, boosting her confidence and her commitment.

Currently, Kiki is in the midst of auditioning for top drama schools, a process she describes as “vigorous and exciting.” She’s making big strides, with her third-round audition for RADA coming up next week and a second-round audition for Guildhall the week after. “This course made me realise how deep my love for theatre is and I want to continue exploring that passion at drama school,” Kiki said, highlighting how the course has helped solidify her aspirations.

For Kiki, the highlight of her time at East Sussex College has been the friendships she’s made along the way. “The highlight of this course was getting to perform alongside the amazing friends I have made. Studying drama allows you to connect to the people on your course much quicker than usual, as you are constantly opening yourself up emotionally in the work you're doing, which creates great mates that are up for a good laugh.”

These bonds have been vital in shaping her college experience, making the challenges of acting more rewarding and fun.

Kiki’s journey through the course has also been about discovering new aspects of the industry that excite her. “This course not only built my confidence in acting but allowed me to realise my passion for other aspects of the industry.” From creating original works to touring pantomime, the course has given her a wide range of opportunities to explore and develop. “I had a blast on this course… It was a varied and enriching experience that built my confidence tremendously.”
