Learn along at home with free online hair course

Learn along at home with free online hair course

East Sussex College is giving people the opportunity to learn how to cut hair from the comfort of their own home.

The free online course will run on Thursday 4th February, starting at 1pm until 2:30pm. Through the power of Google Classroom, up to 30 people can join the session which will be led by expert hairdressing tutor Emma Hawkes as she demonstrates how to create a professional one length haircut.

Emma Hawkes, Lead Hairdressing Lecturer at East Sussex College Lewes, said, “This free short course is ideal for anyone who wants to learn about hairdressing, anyone thinking of changing careers, or anyone desperate to give their children a hair cut!

“While we can’t go out and do much at the moment, we wanted to reach out to the local community and offer a virtual place for them to learn and chat with others. Hairdressing is a very sociable profession, and we certainly miss the interaction with our students and clients.

“If you’re interested in joining us, but don’t have the correct equipment, then we have a partnership with hairdressing supplier, Cool Blades, where you can buy a starter kit. The kit is excellent value for money and includes a ladies training head, scissors, and cutting comb.”

The starter kit is priced at £69.46 and is available to buy online. There is free standard delivery on orders over £50, or you can purchase next day delivery for £2.50.

As the course is hosted on Google Classroom, you will need a Google Mail account to access the class. If you are interested in joining the session, the College recommends that you register your interest quickly, as places are limited to 30 and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
