New Bike Rack Serves The College Cycling Community

The Haven Rangers

A new bike rack was unveiled at Caburn House in Lewes in June, benefitting International and HE students studying at Sussex Downs College

Staff from the International College at Sussex Downs College and the University of Sussex attended the ribbon cutting ceremony of a new bike rack located at Caburn House, adjacent to SDC’s Lewes campus, on 26th June.

The bike rack will serve post grad students and International students residing in Caburn House and studying at both SDC and the University of Sussex, promoting a healthy, active lifestyle for the students.

Mark Allen, Director of the International College at SDC, Sarah Perrin and Camila Supervielle, from the College accommodation team, and Professor Adam Tickell, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sussex, joined Mike Hopkins, SDC Principal & Chief Executive at the opening. Also in attendance from the University of Sussex were Charles Dudley, Director of Residential and Campus Services, Dean Spears, Head of University Housing Services and Oscar Barker-Phelps, Housing Services Manager.

Mark Allen comments, “Sarah Perrin and Camila Supervielle from the Lewes accommodation team were instrumental in fostering this partnership last summer which began with an agreement to let some rooms in Caburn House to post grad students at the University of Sussex. Working together to launch the bike rack for students has created an inclusive community feel for our students, while promoting an active lifestyle by offering safe storage for students who choose to commute by bike.”
