Top 5 things you only know if you work and study at our Lewes campus

For the Top 5 this month, we thought we’d give a little love to our Lewes campus. Working and studying from home is great, but we really miss visiting our Mountfield Road site!

Lewes, in its many educational forms, has proudly been a beacon for further education for over 40 years, dating back to when it was Lewes County Grammar School.

Fast forward to 2020 and there is plenty that you may not know about our campus unless you study or work there. As well as quality Costa coffee, our own in-house printing shop, and our close-knit community, there are a few other things we wanted to share.

Did you know:

1, Our salons are eco-friendly

Our Evolve Hair and Beauty salons hold eco status which means we are fully committed to looking after the environment. Our students are learning their skills in a responsible and ethical environment so they can take this forward into their careers. Our Lewes salons are also famous for training the last two world champions in Beauty Therapy, Kaiya Swain 2017 and Rebecca West in 2019.

2, We have an abundance of artistic brilliance

We have a great reputation for being a college of creative excellence. We have large creative workspaces, stacks of resources at our students’ disposal, and some of the finest tutors in the area. All this helps our students to excel in national competitions like the Royal Opera House Design Challenge. The students’ work has become so successful in this competition that it is now the ‘Gold Standard’ and used as inspiration for other colleges wishing to take part. Just before the lockdown, we were delighted to announce that Charlotte Dance won this year's best Set Design category.

3, We help local businesses to thrive

Creativity is at the heart of our campus and so is building strong links with the community. Last year we launched our Creative Hub at the campus to allow our creative students to work on live briefs from local businesses. It is a win-win. Our students get real industry experience and businesses gain quality products and services they can use to help their organisation grow.

4, You’ll see incredible people every day

What makes an organisation? People. It’s only when you get to know the people you work with that you realise how interesting and inspiring they are. We’re lucky to have some incredible staff who are experts in their fields. Our A-Level tutor, Paul Davies, recently became a published author! Paul has written and published a book about communication through comic books! Kapow! Read more about Paul's book in the latest edition of Escape Magazine.

5, Careers guidance is our speciality

We aim to give students the best educational experience and help them get to where they want to go next. Our highly trained careers advisors hold Level 7 qualifications so they can give the best one-to-one careers guidance. Each year we’re proud to send off our students as they head to some of the biggest and best universities or start careers that they love.
