Emily studied Travel & Tourism Level 2 and Air Cabin Crew at the College’s Hastings campus and graduated in 2023. Since then, Emily has undertaken further training to become part of the Cabin Crew team at EasyJet, where she has now achieved her dream!
Speaking to the College about her studies and dream role with EasyJet, Emily said, “It was an amazing feeling to finally achieve my wings. Not only has this been something that I've wanted since I was little, but the training is very intense and it just made those four weeks of hard work worth it. All the stress, the early starts, the late finishes, every one of the exams was worth it as soon as I got those wings. It was a very proud moment for me.”
Emily outlined the importance of her tutors and emphasised the value of their support throughout the process.
“I was with Hayley and Louiza for two years and I cannot thank them enough for all their help,” said Emily. “They taught in a way that made you remember everything that you had learnt, they had endless stories to share from their time as Cabin Crew and were always on hand to help. Whether it was to do with work or my personal life they were always there for a chat and were so encouraging of my career even after I had left college.”
A critical aspect of studying Travel & Tourism at ESC is the ability to gain unique, real-life experiences in industry environments. Speaking about her highlights from the course, Emily said, “One of my favourite parts of the course was a trip we did to Bournemouth where we took part in a training day with J.A.R.E and got experience Cabin Crew training in a real aircraft for the first time. We got to put out (fake) fire in the cabin, operate aircraft doors and use the evacuation slides. It was such a fun day and one that I will remember for a long time!”
Speaking on whether she’d recommend the course to others, Emily said, “I would 100% recommend this course to anyone who wants to be Cabin Crew. The training for the job, in my experience, is very intense and can move very quickly. It was so helpful to have knowledge of the industry beforehand; things like knowing what pieces of equipment are and how to use them, knowing aviation terminology and so much more. This course was such a massive help to me.
The Travel & Tourism department at ESC sent a message of support to Emily, saying, “You were the perfect student, you had ambition and wanted to learn! We are both so pleased for you. We wish you every success in the future. Look forward to hearing all about your adventures. Keep sending the pictures to us and come back to see us. We love hearing about how our ex students are getting on.”
