Travel & Tourism Student Lands Role with Leading Airline

Former Travel and Tourism student, Jessie Skinner, who studied at East Sussex College’s Lewes campus until 2023, has achieved her dream of working as cabin crew for Virgin Atlantic!

Jessie studied Travel and Tourism at ESC Lewes between 2021 - 2023, and since leaving the College she has already managed to attain a role as cabin crew for Virgin Atlantic.

Following successfully achieving her dream role, Jessie spoke to the College about her journey so far, the process involved and the emotions throughout.

“I was so excited when I got the job offer from Virgin Atlantic. It's an airline I've dreamed of being a part of and I hoped to one day wear the red uniform!” said Jessie. “The best part has to be travelling to new destinations I would never have been to otherwise. Experiencing new cultures is something I really love and this career enables me to do that.”

She added, “I wanted to do this job for a while as I really wanted to get out there and see more parts of the world. I also love chatting and learning about people's cultures and backgrounds. I enjoyed my course a lot and think it gave me a great head start into the industry. I learnt a lot and it gave me a good insight into the world of travel and tourism.”

Speaking on the support from her tutors, Jessie said, “My tutors were amazing! They really helped and supported me over the two years and they boosted my self-confidence a lot. My best advice would be to do what you enjoy and have fun! Travelling is such an amazing thing to do and I think everyone should have the chance to experience it.”
