What will I study?

The curriculum at Ore Valley is designed to provide a coherent and relevant learning experience that supports both academic achievement and progression. Learners study a balanced programme that includes GCSE and/or Functional Skills English and maths, ensuring they develop the essential literacy and numeracy skills required for further education and employment.

Alongside this, learners can access OCR qualifications, including subjects such as Art or History, allowing for greater personalisation and alignment to individual interests and progression goals.

Learners develop essential digital skills through the integrated use of IT across the curriculum, enabling them to confidently use technology for research, communication and coursework. This supports their readiness for modern workplaces and further study, where digital competency is increasingly important.

This academic offer is complemented by a strong vocational element, with pathways including Sport, Business, Health and Social Care,Construction and Hair and Beauty. These areas provide practical, skills-based learning that develops sector-specific knowledge and prepares learners for real-world contexts.

Work experience opportunities form an integral part of the programme, enabling learners to apply their skills in workplace environments, build confidence and develop key employability behaviours such as communication, teamwork and time management.

A structured tutorial programme underpins this offer, focusing on personal development, employability skills, career planning and preparation for next steps. Enrichment activities further enhance the learner experience, broadening aspirations and supporting the development of wider life skills.

Together, this integrated approach ensures that learners are well prepared for progression into further study, apprenticeships or employment.
