Brickwork for beginners

Our Brickwork for Beginners course is a great way to get started with building brick structures. This is a practical course and will teach you how to build corners, brick piers, straight walls, lay a 'soldier' course, and brick on edge.

What will I study?

This is a practical course which provides an introduction to brickwork skills. You will learn how to build a corner, a brick pier and a straight wall and you will learn how to lay a Soldier course and brick on edge. Steel toe capped safety boots are essential. How will I be assessed?

Continuous informal assessment throughout the sessions, and where appropriate, through the use of Individual Learning Plans, as specified by RARPA

What qualification will I achieve?

There is no qualification for this course, but you'll be awarded a certificate of attendance if you attend 80% or more of the course.

What can I do after completing this course?

Once you have completed this course, you might be interested in some of our other classes, such as cookery or languages, or you might consider some of our other construction courses in Hastings.

Are there any extra costs?

There are a few extra costs as you'll need to purchase a pair of steel toe-capped safety boots, a tape measure, gloves, and safety glasses/goggles.
