East Sussex Academy of Music

The East Sussex Academy of Music (ESAM) is a unique place to learn about music. We guarantee the very highest quality of teaching in the classroom and in instrumental lessons. We offer the broadest range of musical experiences that will prepare you for the next stage of your musical career – whatever you hope that that might be.

We are constantly reaching out to work with new partners, all of whom are of the very highest quality. We offer a unique range of activities and ensembles, working with professional musicians from high-profile organisations, and our intention is that this will continue to develop in the future.

This is a great time to be coming to us. In the last few years we have seen impressive results coming from all our courses and as expected, we run industry-standard Macs, software and equipment which all students can access.

COURSES:

  • A-Level Music
  • A-Level Music Technology
  • BTEC Diploma and Subsidiary Diploma (Performance)
  • Pre-Professional Certificate (add-on course)

We offer large scale and small group music-making in an atmosphere of camaraderie and peer support. We constantly challenge our students to be the best musician they can possibly be.

CONCERTS AND LIFE AFTER ESAM

In addition to your core subject you will participate in at least one of our many ensembles, take part in many concerts and be given opportunities to perform outside of the college in private functions – from weddings to local festivals.

Our concerts are open to all so please do come along, it’s the best way to see what we do! Most of our students go on to study music at Conservatoires and Universities or into the world of freelance.

“There is such a nice atmosphere within ESAM, everyone respects each other and leaving will be hard! I will be studying to become a musician and I have ESAM and its teachers to thank for their support.”

Patrick Weaver – clarinettist

“Thanks to connections made at ESAM through staff and ex students, I gained a place at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. If you really push yourself, make friends and connections and work hard you will get so much out of your two years at ESAM and go on to good things”

George Nicola – guitar
