She also enjoys filmmaking as a way to express emotion, “My short film Let’s Have Tea explores the social and cultural significance of tea,” says Olivia. “Sharing a cup of tea can create meaningful connection and conversation. I wanted to capture that, and encourage people to appreciate these everyday moments with family and friends.”

Students from East Sussex College Hastings have used their film making skills to cover the 2019 General Election during a hustings held at the college’s Station Plaza campus.

The students, who study at the Ore Valley campus, honed their journalistic and film making skills to quiz one of Westminster’s biggest media performers, to gather content and footage for documentaries that they are currently making.

Looking ahead, Jamie has clear ambitions for his future in the industry. He said, “I want to go on to be really successful in the filmmaking industry and earn my place on professional productions on set. I really love all aspects of filmmaking but the dream is to become a cinematographer, or a writer/director.”

“I do a lot of Speedway photography at Arlington Stadium and I met Howard as he was filming some footage for his new movie. I have an interest in film making anyway, so we got chatting and I asked him if I could help out, and it took off from there.”

I really enjoy studying here and have learnt so much about creating digital media. The content of the course is varied, and most recently, I've been learning how to create, shoot, and edit a music video. I've learnt that I need to create a narrative and tell a story with the video. My tutor, Jake, has been excellent at explaining how to structure the film, making sure we have a beginning, middle, and an end.
