GCSE Results Day FAQs

Q. What grades do I need for my course?

Entry requirements vary depending on the course and level you want to study. You'll find them on individual course pages. For Level 3 courses, generally, you’ll need 5 GCSEs grade 4-9. Some courses, like our A-Level subjects, have specific entry requirements.

Q. What happens if I don't get the grades I need for my course?

You may still have options. Whether you can continue with your original course will depend on its entry requirements and your individual results.

Don’t panic, though. You will still have lots of options and a place at East Sussex College. Come along to your enrolment session and we’ll help you.

Q. What if I don't get a grade 4 in GCSE English or maths?

You can still join college if you haven't achieved a grade 4 in English or maths, although your result may affect the course or level you can study.

Depending on the grade you've achieved and your circumstances, you'll continue to work towards your English and/or maths as part of your college programme.

Q. Can I change my course after GCSE Results Day?

Possibly. If your results or plans have changed, you can talk to us at enrolment about the course you'd now like to study. Any change will depend on entry requirements and whether there are places available on the course.

Q. Can I change college after GCSE Results Day?

Yes. If you've changed your mind about where you want to study, you can contact East Sussex College to find out what options are available.

You don't need to have previously applied to us to start that conversation. Find and apply for your course online .

Q. Can I apply to East Sussex College after GCSE Results Day?

Yes, you can. However, some courses are already full. We can speak to you about available spaces at your enrolment appointment.
