CES is the biggest technology convention in the world and this year it featured some amazing things that, 20 years ago, you would only be able to find in a Sci-Fi movie.
Excited by the thought of space-saving TVs, flexible smartphones, and flying taxis, we thought we would round-up our five favourites and tell you about them in this month’s 5 of the best.
Samsung’s Bot Care
The big theme running through CES this year is AI-assisted living and smart homes. We already have Amazon's Alexa and Google's Assistant and now Samsung has revealed its Bot Care, a home care robot that can take a user's vital signs. This tech has the potential to save lives so could become very important in the future.
I, Robot anyone?
LG's roll-up Oled TV
TVs have been getting thinner for years and now they are getting flexible. LG unveiled their latest roll-up, super-thin television at CES. It can be squeezed down and rolled up like a projector screen when it’s not being used.
Royole’s FlexPai smartphone
How many of you have dropped your brand new phone and cracked you screen just days or weeks after taking out of the box?
Well that could soon be a thing of the past as Chinese company, Royole, showed off its FlexPai smartphone. Royole claim that the FlexPai's screen is virtually unbreakable and extremely durable passing tests where the screen has been bent over 200,000 times. Its screen provides fantastic color range, high contrast, wide angle, and high-resolution for outstanding picture quality.
Somnox’s sleep robot
Getting enough sleep is really important to our overall wellbeing and plays a big part in how you function the following day.
Say goodbye to sleepless nights thanks to the Somnox Sleep Robot. The huggable bot helps you to get you to sleep faster, sleep for longer, and wake up feeling refreshed. It does this by slowing down your breathing, focusing your attention, and playing soothing sounds.
You’ll soon be able to drink coffee because you enjoy it – not just to keep you awake.
Uber’s Nexus
Uber will soon be taking to the sky as they unveiled a full-scale model of a hybrid-electric aircraft called Nexus at CES. Together with Bell Aerospace, they have built the aircraft that has 2.5metre articulated ducted fans, which enable it to lift off the ground vertically like a traditional helicopter before rotating 90 degrees, allowing for faster air travel. Uber say that the aircraft will be able to carry four passengers and a pilot and is able to cover a distance of 240km within an hour. Flight testing will begin in 2023 with commercial operations following shortly after.
