Alumna turns dreams into reality

Joy Horscroft, an alumna of East Sussex College, has turned her passion for art and design into a thriving career with her own London and New York-based design studio, Makerie Studio.

Makerie Studio is an award-winning creative workshop that designs and creates showpieces for window installations, advertising, editorials and private collectors.

Joy's work with global brands has allowed her to achieve what many only dream of - creating for top brands, travelling, and enjoying a mix of designing on her laptop and hands-on studio work.

"I literally have my dream job," Joy shared. "I create work for top brands, travel, and design from my laptop, as well as spend long practical days in the studio. I employ other creatives and enjoy the freedom—and commitment—of having my own business. I feel lucky and fulfilled every day!"

Joy attributes much of her success to her time at East Sussex College, where she completed the Level 3 Diploma in Art & Design course. "I definitely owe that in huge part to completing the Level 3 Diploma in Art & Design course at ESC Eastbourne, and to the amazing tutors who bring it alive. Thank you!"
