The demonstration, in partnership with The Chef Partnership, provided students with the opportunity to listen to talks from a teamwork/mentor trainer, an East Sussex College Alumnus working in the industry as a chef and find out more about the Hospitality Rocks course.
The Chef Partnership is a hospitality training business, with a focus on chef people skills and wellbeing. They work with employers and colleges to enhance the vital soft skills required to positively contribute to the kitchen and to inspire new and experienced chefs.
Caroline Brent, Teamwork & Mentoring Senior Trainer, led several exercises with the group on team working skills, gave a short talk about the industry and led a discussion about equipping students with the knowledge of what to expect from the industry.
East Sussex College Alumnus, Charlie Simmons, has thrived in the industry since leaving the College and currently works as a chef at Rathfinny Wine Estate. Charlie provided students with a valuable insight into what it’s like to work in the industry.
To round off the demonstration, students took part in a fish cooking workshop led by two expert chefs from The Owl, a traditional English pub in Camber Sands. Students prepared several exceptional fish dishes as pictured below.
