This year’s theme, “Standing Firm in Power and Pride,” recognises the importance of honouring Black history and culture, while also challenging and reshaping narratives for future generations.
Throughout October, students can get involved in a variety of activities that shine a light on the diverse history of Black communities, celebrate achievements, and encourage open conversations around race, equality, and representation.
Rebecca Conroy, CEO & Principal of East Sussex College, said: “Black History Month is an important opportunity to reflect, learn, and celebrate Black communities. At ESC, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where all students feel valued and empowered to succeed.”
We’ll also be sharing inspiring student and alumni success stories on our social channels, including Netflix star Amita Suman, political leader Josh Babarinde OBE MP, and talented acting duo Almayra and Iman Shah.
