The cast has just completed an incredible run in Manila, bringing the powerful story and music to audiences across the region.
Sonny Monaghan continues his remarkable journey with the smash-hit musical, having previously wowed UK audiences as Alternate Evan. Now, mid-way through the Asia Tour, he is delivering the same moving, heartfelt performances to audiences overseas.
Speaking to the College last October after being cast, Sonny said: “I did celebrate in the moment, pure joy. I felt so honoured to be trusted with such an incredible role. This role and this show have been such a dream of mine and I'm just so very grateful to everyone involved with the casting process.
“[My cast mates] are all wonderful people with immense amounts of talent, many of whom you will recognise from various West End shows and tours around the UK! It is truly thrilling to be sharing a stage with this special group of performers.”
Joining him on tour is fellow ESC alumna Ashlyn Weekes, who has been building an impressive career since graduating. After training at Urdang, she made her professional debut in Starlight Express London as Belle and First Cover Pearl. Now, she’s dazzling audiences across Asia as part of the Dear Evan Hansen company.
When she first announced the news on social media, Ashlyn shared: “She’s off on tour! My next adventure is joining the cast of Dear Evan Hansen as Ensemble/first cover Alana/second cover Heidi, AND we are heading to Asia! Can’t wait to get started on this one.”
Good luck to both Sonny and Ashlyn for the rest of their Asia tour!
