Music for Youth Schools Proms
Pre-Professional Music students from the East Sussex Academy of Music (ESAM), based at Sussex Downs College, led a fantastic performance in the Music for Youth School Proms at the Royal Albert Hall on 13th November.
Pianjo & Co, the band made up of six students studying the Pre-Professional Music course run by ESAM, at Sussex Downs College in Lewes, were put forward to play at the Proms after performing at the Music for Youth National Festival in Birmingham, back in July.
John Sims, Head of East Sussex Academy of Music (ESAM), says, “This is an incredible achievement as the schools proms are really prestigious. These talented students are of remarkable quality. We are starting to get good levels of success now and I hope it will continue to grow. We’ve taken steps to improve the quality of teaching, the results academically and vocationally, and to provide our students with a realistic and ambitious Music Academy in which to work.”
Pianjo & Co will be performing at the Sussex Downs College Student Awards in January at The Grand Hotel, Eastbourne.
