Degree Open Day at East Sussex College Hastings

Degree Open Day at East Sussex College Hastings

Prospective students considering university are invited to explore degree opportunities at East Sussex College during an Open Day on Saturday 13 June (11am-2pm) at its Station Plaza campus in Hastings.

With increasing living costs and ongoing pressure on student finances, more people are considering higher education options that offer flexibility, affordability, and strong local support. The Hastings Open Day is a chance to find out more about what degree-level study could look like close to home.

Visitors can explore how they can work towards a University of East Anglia-validated degree, meet expert tutors, tour the campus spaces, and get a real feel for student life.

Alongside courses based at Station Plaza, prospective students can also find out more about higher-level technical and professional pathways delivered at the College’s Ore Valley campus, including Engineering, Computing, Construction, and other career-focused courses designed to support progression into industry.

“Many students assume they need to move away to gain a high-quality university experience, but that’s simply not the case,” said Meg Sullivan, Director of Higher Education at East Sussex College. “At East Sussex College, students can achieve a University of East Anglia-validated degree while benefiting from smaller class sizes, expert teaching, and strong personal support.”

Throughout the day there will be subject talks, guidance on student loans, and opportunities to speak directly with tutors about a range of degree options, including six BA (Hons) Art degrees, Business, Health and Social Care, Early Years, and, new for 2026, the town’s first ever Level 7 Masters degree in Contemporary Arts Practice.

Alongside the Open Day, visitors will also be able to see the end-of-year degree show, showcasing the creativity and talent of this year’s graduating students – a great opportunity to see the standard of work being produced, right here on campus.

“At East Sussex College, our degrees are designed with flexibility at their core, with many delivered over just two days a week to help students balance study alongside work, family, and other commitments, and avoid the need for daily commuting,” said Meg Sullivan, Director of Higher Education at East Sussex College. “Alongside small class sizes, expert teaching, and strong academic and wellbeing support, this creates a more personal and supportive way to study while still achieving a University of East Anglia-validated degree, with clear progression into employment or further study.”

If you’ve been wondering whether studying locally could work for you, this is the perfect opportunity to see for yourself and ask any questions you might have.
