East Sussex College announces UEA partnership

East Sussex College’s Higher Education offer has been boosted by the launch of a new partnership with the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Eastbourne and Lewes.

East Sussex College and UEA already work collaboratively as part of the South East Institute of Technology and this formal partnership will mean our communities benefit from this relationship.

UEA, ranked 27th in the Times and Guardian University guides, will work with the College to validate the College’s HE programmes at Eastbourne and Lewes from September 2023. These include programmes in Person Centred Counselling, Complementary Healthcare, Music Production and Creative Recording, Digital Media Design and Animation, Art and Practice.

Moving forward, the partnership will allow the College to develop a wider range of HE programmes that meet the needs of local people ensuring the College plays a key role in upskilling and supporting local aspiration.

This partnership ensures that we can deliver HE flexibly, locally, and affordably in partnership with one of the best in the country.”

Professor Zoe Butterfint, UEA Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Partnerships & Apprenticeships, said: “UEA is delighted that East Sussex College is joining our established network of academic partners and we look forward to the first students studying towards UEA awards starting in September 2023. This reinforces UEA’s commitment to higher education in our region and beyond and we are excited to be working with East Sussex College to support with further development of its provision.”

East Sussex College has offered Degree courses for over 25 years. The HE department celebrates continuing outstanding achievements as each cohort graduates into the industry sectors it serves. Former HE student, Nicole Marshall studied Music Production and Creative Recording (BA Hons) in Eastbourne. Nicole, under the stage name Nikki Cislyn, won an Ivor Novello Award and Grammy Award (2015) for writing and featuring on Clean Bandit’s Number One hit single, ‘Rather Be’.
