East Sussex College Open Events Conclude

East Sussex College Open Events

Following the visit of thousands of prospective students, East Sussex College Open Events have concluded for the 2022/23 academic year.

The College welcomed prospective students to each of their campuses in Lewes, Hastings, Eastbourne and their brand-new Marine Workshops based in Newhaven.

The events gave students and parents alike an opportunity to get a glimpse of each campus and ask any burning questions to expert tutors ahead of the 2023/24 academic year. For the first time, East Sussex College opened its classrooms at the former UTC @Harbourside site in Newhaven to prospective students. From September 2023, Marine Biology and Marine Engineering courses will be delivered from these purpose-built facilities. The event attracted visitors from as far as Barcelona, as these new Marine Biology courses are an exciting new option for Further Education here on the Sussex coast.

The new ESC Training Hub also took centre stage, as visitors found out about training opportunities available in sustainable energy solutions including retrofit and solar panels. The site at Hampden Retail Park opened in October 2022 and was recently featured in The Times in an article looking at apprentices leading the way to a cleaner future. The Training Hub fills the skills gap and will support the government’s goal to reach net-zero by 2050. As well as attracting new students in retrofit training and green energy solutions, the site will train existing employees, making it a valuable addition to the community.

East Sussex College Open Events concluded in Eastbourne on Thursday 30 March. Rebecca Conroy, Principal & CEO at East Sussex College, said, “I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along to our Open Events throughout the 2022/23 academic year! These events provide future students with an excellent opportunity to come and find out more, talk to our expert tutors, and see why joining East Sussex College is right for you.

“We have high quality programmes to suit everyone, ranging from academic to technical and professional qualifications, including T-Levels. We are a very supportive college who work hard to give every student an excellent experience. We look forward to welcoming you to the College again soon!”

Students who missed the College Open Events can book a campus tour or register to come along to ESC Taster Days in June.
