Year 10s
To book your Taster Day(s), please use the link below when available. From here, you can select your school and will be offered the dates your school has chosen to attend. You can pick up to 4 subjects per day, giving you the chance to experience a range of the courses you might like to take when you get to college!
A: You can pick up to 4 subjects each day. Please note that some subjects will span across two sessions and will be highlighted on the booking form as ‘DOUBLE’ subjects.
A: Each of the courses has a set capacity and spaces are given on a first-come-first-served basis. It could be that the course you have chosen is full. If this is the case, please have a look to see if there are any other time slots available for your chosen course. Alternatively, you can make amends to your timetable up until Sunday 2nd June, so you can check back to see if a space has become available before this date.
A: Your school has chosen dates for you to attend our Taster Days. Please check with your school which dates/locations they have signed you up to attend. If you wish to come on a different day or campus, you will need to select ‘Other’ from the drop down schools list and your attendance will need to be agreed with your school.
A: If your school isn’t listed or you are home-schooled, please select ‘Other’ on the school drop-down list. This will then show you dates where there is still capacity to attend. If you attend on a date your school hasn’t agreed, your school will be contacted to agree to your absence.
A: Photo ID is required for safeguarding purposes. With so many new faces during Taster Days, photo ID allows us to readily identify you if required. The photo you provide should be easily recognisable and will not be used for any purposes other than your security throughout the Taster Day.
A: If your school has chosen to attend multiple campuses (Hastings, Eastbourne and/or Lewes), you will have the opportunity to come to each campus.
A: A lot of our courses are offered at multiple campuses and run similar activities during Taster Days. We would advise trying out different options where you are interested to prevent repeating activities.
A: You can make amends to your timetable up until Sunday 2nd June by signing into your account. After this date timetables will be fixed.
A: Upon arrival, you'll register and proceed to your first taster session. This session will kick off with a warm welcome, followed by engaging activities. You'll participate in sessions 1, 2, and 3 before breaking for lunch. During the break, enjoy live music with food on offer from our refectories. After lunch, you'll attend your fourth session before concluding and heading home or back to school.
*Motor Vehicles in Hastings may take an earlier lunch period - TBC
A: You are welcome to bring a packed lunch with you on the day. Our refectories and coffee shops will be open if you would like to purchase food. Both cash and card are accepted at these outlets.
A: You must remain on campus for the full Taster Day, between 9.00am - 2.25pm for safeguarding purposes. We have all the facilities you will need onsite.
A: Your school will decide whether they will be sending a representative and should let you know before the day. If there is not a representative from your school, there will be a helpdesk signposted on the day. If you need anything throughout the day, a member of East Sussex College staff will be available at the helpdesk to help.
A: Taster Days should be treated as a normal school day and parents do not need to be in attendance. If you are attending independently, your parents are welcome to drop you off and pick you up, but they will not be able to attend the Taster Day.
A: You do not have to wear school uniform for the Taster Days, but please make sure your outfit is suitable for a school environment. Specific requirements are necessary for the following courses:
These requirements are for your own safety. If you do not dress appropriately, you may be asked to move to a different session.
A: Our Newhaven Marine Biology course will be taking place at our Lewes campus for the purposes of Taster Days. In the autumn term there will be an opportunity for you to visit our Newhaven campus as part of our Open Events.
A: Due to multiple campuses in Hasting, students will be able to select either a Station Plaza campus day or an Ore Valley/ATC campus day.
When you select your first subject, the system will then display only those subjects on the relevant campus you can choose from to timetable your day. We will be running a minibus between Ore Valley and ATC to transport students between these sites.
You are welcome to attend multiple days in Hastings if needed, however you will need to approve this with your school.
