As Wellbeing Lead Pauline Greig said, “The invaluable work the Foodbank does was our motivation to raise money and support them with food donations at Christmas.”
The donation comes from the Christmas Fairs held on 9th and 11th December at the Plaza and Ore campuses. In the run-up to the events, hundreds of raffle tickets were sold thanks to generous prizes donated by local businesses.
Students and staff had a fantastic time taking part in festive activities, from a cuddly toy tombola (with donations from Hastings Give and Takery) to decorate-your-own gingerbread sessions.
Santa and his ‘cheeky elf’ made appearances at both sites, and Assistant Principal Lucy Mitchell joined in the fun at the photobooth. Hair and Beauty students also got involved, offering manicures and glittery cheeks, while guests enjoyed hot chocolate and cakes.
The Wellbeing Team said the events were a wonderful way to bring the college community together, supporting students in need while spreading festive cheer across Hastings.
By delivering the funds and donations in person, East Sussex College is helping the Foodbank continue its vital work, supporting local families and individuals throughout the year.
