Eastbourne Youth Radio Returns to East Sussex College for 25th Anniversary Broadcast

Eastbourne Youth Radio (EYR) is back on the airwaves this November for its 25th anniversary, broadcasting live from the studios at East Sussex College.

The ‘silver anniversary broadcast’ marks a special milestone for Eastbourne Youth Radio, which first hit the airwaves back in the early 2000s - we’d just survived the Millennium Bug, the Spice Girls and Westlife were battling it out at the top of the charts, and police foiled the Millennium Dome diamond heist.

Fast-forward 25 years, and EYR is still shining bright. This year’s event will see students from local schools and organisations produce and present over 65 hours of original programmes, airing on 87.7FM and streaming online at www.eyr.org.uk from 18-21 November.

Proudly sponsored by East Sussex College Group, this year’s broadcast continues EYR’s long tradition of giving young people aged 5-19 the chance to host, produce, and manage their own radio shows - gaining valuable, hands-on experience in media production and broadcasting.

As part of the celebrations, the popular ‘Meet the Media’ event returns, featuring a panel of industry professionals - all former EYR participants - who will share their journeys, experiences, and advice for breaking into the media world.

The 2025 panel includes:

  • Oscar Williams – Broadcast Engineer for OB facilities company Racetech
  • Erin Bacon – UI Planning Manager at Sky
  • Chris Bailey – Audio & Creative Producer at On the Sly Audio Production
  • Serena Rosa Box – Head of Media, PR and External Affairs at the Association of Optometrists
  • Autumn Browne – Radio Producer and Creative Practitioner at Radio Reform

These panellists are just some of the many EYR alumni who have gone on to build exciting and successful careers in the media and creative industries.

Schools across Eastbourne and beyond will be taking part, each producing their own unique shows that showcase the creativity and talent of young people in the area.

Rebecca Conroy, CEO & Principal of East Sussex College, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Eastbourne Youth Radio back to East Sussex College for its incredible 25th anniversary! For a quarter of a century, EYR has given young people the chance to find their voice, build confidence, and connect with real industry professionals. As proud sponsors, we’re thrilled to continue supporting an event that brings learning to life and celebrates the creativity, passion, and talent of our local students.”

Tune in to the 25th edition of Eastbourne Youth Radio on 87.7FM or online at www.eyr.org.uk from 18th - 21st November 2025 and celebrate a quarter-century of youth-led broadcasting excellence.
