ESC Performing Arts Twins Front Amazon Prime’s “The Best” Advert

East Sussex College Performing Arts alumni, twin sisters Almayra and Iman Shah, have taken another exciting step in their careers after featuring in Amazon Prime’s 2024 campaign, The Best.

The advert, directed by Michael Spiccia, was part of Amazon’s Olympic coverage and celebrated women in sport, following the story of twin sisters whose competitive spirit is inspired by watching women’s football on Prime Video.

Speaking to the College about their success, Iman said, “We worked closely with Michael and Drew (DOP) also known for his work on waves and Euphoria to celebrate women in sport. It follows the story of twin sisters whose competitive spirit is fuelled by watching women’s football on Prime Video. For me and my sister, it was such a special experience, not only because we got to play off our real-life twin dynamic, but also because it spotlighted women in football and representation in media, which is something we’re really passionate about.

“The process itself was incredible: from the audition, to stepping onto a professional set, to seeing the finished ad launched during the Olympic coverage, it honestly felt surreal. It’s been amazing to see how people have connected with the campaign, and being part of a global brand like Amazon has definitely been a milestone moment in our acting journey.”

The twins continue to grow their presence in the industry, adding the Amazon campaign to an impressive list of credits that already includes high-profile adverts, music videos, and even opening London Fashion Week with world-famous brands Stella McCartney and Net-A-Porter.

Since leaving East Sussex College, both Almayra and Iman have thrived in the creative industries while reflecting fondly on their time studying at ESC.

Almayra said, “I didn’t realise the benefits [of college, at the time] like boosting your confidence and developing your social skills. It’s also working towards something you want to do in the future - in our case, full-time acting.

"The College helps you pave a path to get into the industry. It’s the perfect stepping stone. I’d 100% recommend East Sussex College to others!”
