This year’s theme, set by the World Federation for Mental Health, is “It is time to prioritise mental health in the workplace.”
In today's fast-paced world, mental health challenges are becoming more common, with burnout being one of the most significant issues. Burnout doesn’t happen overnight; it builds up gradually, often catching people off guard. It’s important to recognise that this issue doesn’t just affect individual wellbeing - it has serious consequences for workplaces and organisations too.
Rebecca Conroy, CEO and Principal of East Sussex College, spoke about the importance of raising awareness: "We are big supporters of World Mental Health Day and many students and colleagues will be wearing something yellow to help raise awareness and show that we care. Looking after the mental health of young people is a massive priority and something we are mindful of every day.”
The College’s Wellbeing Team plays a key role in providing support, offering practical advice and assistance to students who might be dealing with difficult issues. Whether it’s stress, anxiety, or personal concerns, the Wellbeing Team is there to listen and help.
To learn more about how the Wellbeing Team can support you, visit the ESC website for resources and further support services.
As part of our efforts to raise awareness, East Sussex College is encouraging students and staff to share how they’re supporting World Mental Health Day on social media. Whether you’re wearing yellow, practising self-care, or having a conversation with a friend, we’d love to see how you’re getting involved.
Post your photos, thoughts, or tips using the hashtag #WorldMentalHealthDay and don’t forget to tag @WeAreESCG. Let’s spread the message and show that prioritising mental health matters!
By sharing your support, you can inspire others and help create a more open conversation about mental health.
