Each year the National Student Survey (NSS) gathers Higher Education students’ opinions on the quality of their courses. The survey – one of the largest of its kind in the world – asks final year degree level students in the UK questions about a range of factors related to their academic experience, including the teaching, assessment and feedback and how well courses are organised.
Highlights from the ESC UC NSS 2024 results include a remarkable overall average of 94%, an increase of 4% from last year. This includes a 98.5% satisfaction rate for course ‘development of knowledge and skills needed for the future’, which is 15.6% above the national average.
Additionally, an impressive 97% satisfaction rate for ‘freedom to express ideas, opinions, and beliefs’ stands at almost 30% above the national average, and 97.1% satisfaction rate for ‘how well the teaching staff supported learning’, which is 11.1% above the average.
With degrees validated by top institutions including the University of East Anglia (top 30 University in the UK), University of Brighton and Pearson, ESC University Courses continue to deliver quality Higher Education locally year after year.
These results reflect the exceptional staff, support, facilities and degree programmes available at campuses in Eastbourne, Hastings and Lewes.
Meg Sullivan, Head of HE at East Sussex College, shared her pride, "This is yet again another set of fantastic results which shows how much our students value our courses, our small class sizes, and our quality partnerships with leading UK universities. This survey shows again how small colleges can outperform larger universities when measuring student satisfaction and this year our students have rated us on average 14% higher than the average of all other providers.
“We are very proud of our inspiring graduates and thank them for their outstanding positive feedback. These degrees gained locally at East Sussex College will support them into quality careers and excellent future opportunities."
