The ESOL students, all non-native English speakers now living in the UK, come from a diverse range of countries, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Kurdisatan, Sudan, Syria and Ukraine.
Students enjoyed a guided tour of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, where they learned about the UK's parliamentary system, the building's history, and numerous anecdotes about the people who have worked there over the years.
Otto Haas, Head of Curriculum for ESOL and International at ESC Hastings, said, “English for Speakers of Other Languages students from East Sussex College Hastings visited the Houses of Parliament last Friday at the invitation of Sally-Ann Hart MP. The students all said that they thoroughly enjoyed their visit and were truly grateful for the opportunity!”
