Former Catering student reaches UK finals of S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Competition

Marcus Clayton

Former East Sussex College Hastings Catering student, Marcus Clayton, has reached the UK finals of the prestigious S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Competition, following an impressive performance in front of an international judging panel.

Marcus, who studied at the College’s Hastings campus, was selected as one of ten chefs to compete in the UK finals of the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Competition in London on 12th October.

The S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Competition is a global initiative that strives to discover and support inspiring young chefs in the industry around the world.

At the UK finals, Marcus will join a shortlist of ten young chefs who will each have to provide a signature dish to a panel of judges. He has already impressed an international judging panel and stood out among thousands of applicants all over the world.

Following his completion of A-Levels at East Sussex College, Marcus has followed his passion and worked numerous roles in the industry.

Speaking to SussexWorld about his nomination, Marcus said, “The competition will be an ideal place for me to showcase my skills and keep improving with the help of my mentor and the judges’ feedback on my signature dish. I’m so pleased to be given this opportunity to take part, and work alongside other very passionate people, and continue my learning.”

Should Marcus progress beyond the UK finals stages of the competition, he will then advance to the Grand Finale in Milan next year, where four inspiring young chefs will compete.
