Former East Sussex College student Laurence O’Regan is on the path to becoming a qualified physiotherapist after excelling in his studies and continuing his academic journey at prestigious universities.

Laurence studied the Level 3 BTEC in Sport and Exercise Science at East Sussex College from 2019 to 2021, achieving a triple merit. His time at college ignited a passion for understanding how science and practice work together to improve people’s health.

After completing his course, Laurence progressed to Anglia Ruskin University, where he explored subjects including Physiology, Biomechanics, Psychology, Nutrition, and Sports Medicine. He thrived in the university environment, developing both academically and personally, and graduated with a First-Class Honours degree.

Driven by his curiosity and ambition, Laurence is now studying for a Master’s in Physiotherapy at King’s College London. Currently in the first year of his two-year programme, he is working towards becoming a fully qualified physiotherapist.

Reflecting on his journey, Laurence acknowledges the challenges that come with higher education but encourages current students to stay determined. “I have been where you students are. The journey is long and complicated, but you have to approach it with courage and determination—I believe anything is possible,” he said.

He also credits the support of his college lecturers for helping him push through challenges and reach his goals. “As much hard work as I have put in, I owe much of it to the lovely teachers in the Sport and Exercise Science team who helped me persevere and push myself to get me where I am today.”

Laurence’s story is a testament to the power of dedication and the strong foundation provided by East Sussex College. His success serves as an inspiration for students looking to follow a similar path in sport, health, and physiotherapy.
