Each campus organised a range of activities to help students settle in. At Hastings, students explored the West Hill before visiting Smugglers’ Adventure and the historic town of Rye. In Lewes, the group experienced the College’s Immersive Suite, while Eastbourne students enjoyed a trip to Brighton.
Alongside these trips, students took part in enrolment and induction sessions, which included meeting tutors, hearing from Police officers about keeping safe and understanding British laws, English lessons, and campus tours.
Katie Wingfield, Senior International Officer for East Sussex College, said, “After months of working on their applications, it’s fantastic to finally meet all our new international students in person. Their energy and enthusiasm are infectious, and it’s been great getting to know them. Even in just a week, we’ve seen friendships begin to form and a real buzz as they explore their new environment and look ahead to what’s to come.”
The first week has set a positive tone for the year ahead, with students already forming friendships and building confidence as they begin their studies in the UK.
