Construction students hear about the importance of workplace behaviours and health and safety

Morgan Sindall talk to carpentry, brick, plumbing, and painting and decorating students

Construction giants, Morgan Sindall, paid a visit to East Sussex College’s Eastbourne campus to deliver an employer talk to carpentry, brick, plumbing, and painting and decorating students about the importance of workplace behaviours and health and safety.

Morgan Sindall is a leading UK construction and regeneration group of nine companies. Project Manager, Nick Beaumont, and Senior Site Manager, Pat Moore, attended the College to provide students with an expert insight into the industry.

Nigel Edwards, Curriculum Quality Lead at East Sussex College, said that a good grounding of workplace behaviours is essential for all students. The College reinforces this attitude as it is expected of the construction students when they go out to work.

It was invaluable for students to hear the same message echoed directly from a reputable construction company like Morgan Sindall.

Project Manager at Morgan Sindall, Nick, said, “Everyone’s health and safety is at the heart of everything that we do, ensuring everyone goes home safe every day.

“Having the opportunity to discuss workplace behaviours, professionalism, and health and safety expectations with the next generation of skilled tradespeople will hopefully help them prepare for life both on and off site, looking out for their own and others' health and safety each day.”

East Sussex College has continued working alongside Nick and Pat to arrange on-site visits at one of the many Morgan Sindall development sites in East Sussex, to enable students to see the practices in action.
