The club, designed by motor vehicle lecturers Mick Smidmore and Dan Bird, opened last night and will now run every Tuesday from 4:30pm until the end of term.
More than just a place to hang out, the club offers students the chance to talk bikes, share tips, and get hands-on with repairs and maintenance in a friendly, social setting.
Mick and Dan are also slowly building up a stock of tools and equipment so students can learn to carry out everyday maintenance and develop essential workshop skills.
But there's a serious side too. With guest visits from police motorcyclists lined up, the club will also raise awareness about safe riding – because knowing how to keep your bike in top condition can help save lives.
The Bike Club will return in September, but if you’re interested in bikes and want to get involved this term, head down to the Motor Vehicle department any Tuesday after college.
