The event, led by Plumbing tutor Lee Olden, Business Development Officer Rose Mott, and the College’s Business Development team, aimed to match current Level 2 Plumbing students with employers offering Level 3 Plumbing & Heating Technician apprenticeships for September 2025.
To kickstart this opportunity, students will first complete 30 hours of work experience, acting as a trial period before potentially securing a full apprenticeship.
Local businesses Hero Plumbing, OHM Energy, and GP Plumbing & Heating attended the event, interviewing students one-on-one. Armed with their CVs and enthusiasm, students including Hayden Searle, James Vine, Jack Zammit, Harvey Plumstead, Louie Fox, and Tom Kehoe impressed employers with their passion and readiness for the industry.
Katie Parris, Business Development Advisor at ESC, said, “Feedback from both students and employers was extremely positive, with businesses praising the students' skills and attitudes. This event highlights East Sussex College’s commitment to real-world opportunities, ensuring students are not just learning in the classroom but actively preparing for their future careers.”
