A Paramedic has praised the support of an unnamed Mechanical Engineering student from East Sussex College, Ore Valley, Hastings, after she came to the aid of her child.
Natalie Brodrick, a Paramedic in Hastings, was off duty with her two sons in the car when she stopped to help at a road accident between Rye and Peasmarsh on Sunday 12th July at around 5pm. While attending the accident scene, one of Natalie’s sons trapped his head in the rear electric car window.
“My son cried out and I tried to get my electric windows down but they would not move,” Natalie says of the event. “He is only five and was panicking and getting upset. Two ladies were already trying to help me when the ESC student came to our aid.”
The unnamed student responded quickly, putting her college knowledge to use, explaining that a safety mechanism on the window means it would not move if there is weight on it.They managed to lift the boy’s weight off the window and it released.
“I was so grateful for her quick thinking and help,” Natalie says. “She was so polite and is a real credit to the college.”
