Three talented Creative students from East Sussex College’s Eastbourne and Lewes campuses have made a big impact at the 9th Eastbourne International Film Festival, Crossing the Screen.

Elizabeth Benson-Rowe and Lucy Jenden who are studying the UAL Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology (L3 Content Creation: Visual, Audio, Social Media & Journalism), and Jack who is studying the T-Level course in Lewes, were announced as the winners of a poster design competition for the festival.

Their eye-catching designs were used to promote the event, showcasing their creativity and talent to a wider audience.

As part of the festival, student films were also screened on the big screen, giving young filmmakers the incredible opportunity to see their work presented in a professional setting. They also took part in an exclusive film workshop, where they gained valuable insights from industry experts.

The festival concluded with the Best Student Film Award being announced on Sunday evening (March 30th), celebrating the outstanding talent of emerging filmmakers.

Jason Hollis, Media Lecturer at East Sussex College, said,“It has been a pleasure to be able to work with Crossing the Screen - Eastbourne International Film Festival for a second year. The opportunity has enabled students to have a real-world experience of social media marketing, along with them being able to enter and showcase their films in the film competition.

“The workshops Crossing the Screen have taught students about animation delivered by industry professionals, and this year is going to give them an insight into running their own film festival, 'From Programming to Execution'. Working with Crossing the Screen has also enabled a number of our students to be offered work experience helping with the five-day event, from the front of the house to interviewing and filming the event.”

Jason added, “I am extremely proud of all the students' hard work and support in offering this local film festival.”

This was a fantastic experience for East Sussex College students to gain industry exposure, develop their skills, and connect with film professionals. Congratulations to Elizabeth, Lucy, and Jack on their achievements!
