There’s No Place Like Home

Art & Design and Photography students from East Sussex College present an exhibition of art, sculpture and photography at Charleston Farmhouse next week (14^th-24^th March)

East Sussex College Lewes have joined forces with The Charleston Trust to create a new, contemporary, and innovative arts exhibition this month. The exhibition, staged at Charleston Farmhouse, features work from Art & Design and Photography Diploma students at the college.

The students worked on live briefs and responded creatively and imaginatively to the theme of ‘home’.

The vibrant show will include a sculpture trail of the students' work in the beautiful Charleston gardens, as well as other 2D works and photography on display in the recently renovated Hay Barn.

Course leader, James DiBiase, is coordinating the exhibition and said that the project had been

highly challenging, but also incredibly exciting and promises to be something rather special.

Susan Kent, Learning Officer at Charleston said

In the spirit of Bloomsbury and the artists who created a unique home at Charleston we are committed to encouraging the creativity of local young artists. I am very excited by the ideas and quality of the work being created by the East Sussex College art students and look forward to seeing it exhibited at Charleston. I would encourage everyone to come and visit.

As a part of their learning experience the students are also undertaking work experience and will be supporting the delivery of hands on free workshops for local school children.

The exhibition will be open 11am till 5pm every day except Mondays and Tuesdays.

On Saturday 23rd March, there will be a special awards ceremony for the best works on display, judged and voted by members of the public.
