Travel and Tourism students from East Sussex College’s Hastings campus embarked on an unforgettable trip to Disneyland Paris, where they combined education with adventure.

From January 25th to 28th, 30 students from Level 2, Level 3, and Cabin Crew courses at the Station Plaza campus took part in this exciting experience, gaining valuable industry insights while exploring one of the world’s most famous tourist destinations.

The highlight of the trip was attending the Travel and Tourism Convention, where students had the opportunity to hear from industry experts. Hayley Watkinson, Travel & Tourism Lecturer at East Sussex College, reflected on the experience, saying:

“This is what we came for! The travel and tourism convention was truly inspiring, featuring talks from Jane Beatty, the Disney Customer Service team, Tom Nelson’s digital marketing team, and Lee Ainsworth from Advantage Travel Partnership.

“Learners gained valuable insights into what makes the travel industry great, how to enter the industry after college, and the fact that it is the largest employer. They also learned about the essential knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed, various roles and progression routes within the industry, and the importance of aiming high.”

Beyond the convention, students immersed themselves in the magic of Disneyland Paris, seeing firsthand how a major tourist attraction operates on a daily basis. This real-world experience reinforced their classroom learning, offering them a glimpse into customer service excellence, large-scale operations, and the logistics of a globally renowned theme park.

In addition to exploring Disneyland, students strengthened friendships, visited iconic Parisian landmarks, and enjoyed a scenic sightseeing cruise along the River Seine.

The trip was not only educational but also an inspiring and memorable experience for all involved, leaving students motivated for their future careers in travel and tourism
